Teddy CPR, Symmetry and Hanukkah….

What a busy Tuesday we’ve had in P1 today! This morning we had our final parent visitor to hear all about his job. We practised CPR on our teddies, learnt how to put someone in the recovery position and had lots of good questions to ask.

In maths we have been learning about 2D and 3D shapes and today we were looking at symmetry. We had a go at making our own symmetrical Christmas baubles using paint.

This afternoon we watched a video about the story of Hanukkah and learnt about how it is celebrated. We started to make our own Menorahs which we will finish tomorrow (pictures to follow!)

Phew, lots happening in P1!!

Don’t forget our Christmas party is happening on Thursday. Any party food donations should be brought to school tomorrow or Thursday morning. Thank you in advance. 😊

Learning about jobs

This week we have had lots of visits from parents to tell us all about their jobs. We’ve had a policeman, nurses, a scientist and an engineer! The children have been excellent listeners and asking lots of questions. We’ve had really good fun trying on different outfits and doing some different activities related to the jobs.

A big thank you to all the parents who took the time to come in and speak to us, as well as those who offered to come in. We hope to organise some more visits over the next two terms to continue our learning around developing the young workforce.

Tennis

The children have really enjoyed their tennis sessions with Lizzy from Bellfield Tennis Club over the last three weeks. Last week we played a game ‘Switch’ to improve our coordination, speed and ball control – it was lots of fun and Lizzy was very impressed with how well we listened to and followed the instructions.

We then practised our bouncing and catching skills – this was quite tricky and required a lot of focus but we did very well.

We also worked on balancing the ball on the racket, remembering to hold the racket correctly.

We have now finished our sessions with Lizzy, for this term anyway. However, there will be some after school tennis coaching, to be held at Inshes Primary School coming soon. More information about this will follow.
